Is it possible to 'alter' Saved games so that the latest GZDoom [v] can load them in?? I bet that there isn't that much difference between a v1. Post by Rachael » Sat Nov 08, I think it's very very ill-advised. It's possible that the data structures can change between different versions of the game, and when that happens you're going to run into serious issues, most notably, stability, among other things.
The changes in the game can occur behind-the-scenes, which won't affect you at all, but would affect the savegames dramatically. I can understand, and am not against, people keeping certain ones for sentimental value or what have you, but the appeal for them is much wider than originally intended - and sure, that's not such a bad thing because it means more bug reports come in quicker, but it also has the disadvantage that mods are often developed on them, and we have people asking for old ones when we have hundreds, if not half a thousand per year if you count forks, we just don't keep that many around.
Naturally that means they go through prunes, most often semi-annually at least - and anything deleted in the prune is lost forever, unless someone kept a backup somewhere.
Also - if you are the kind of person who downloads a lot of dev builds, and you don't delete old downloads frequently, and you're suffering disk space issues - check your downloads folder - you might be sitting on a golden opportunity to reclaim some of that space back.

Advanced polyobjects free from the restrictions of their original implementation in Hexen. Custom monsters, weapons, items, player classes, and other entities. High resolution textures and sprites. Translucency regular and additive. Many, many extensions to ACS that were not present in Hexen.
All Doom limits are gone.
